Meet Our Staff
Pastor Kevin Wattles has been serving at Grace since 1996. He also serves as a member of the WELS Board for Home Missions and is chairman of the North Atlantic Mission District Board.
 
Kevin holds a Liberal Arts Degree from Northwestern College (1992) and a Master of Divinity Degree from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (1996). He is a Doctor of Ministry Candidate at Denver Seminary.
 
Kevin and his wife Jill have three children—Kortney, Josh and Jason. He enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities and is very much looking forward to the Washington Nationals going to the World Series

Pastor Tim Satorius has led our outreach into the Hispanic community in Northern Virginia and pastored “La Iglesia Luterana Gracia y Paz,” Grace’s Spanish-speaking congregation since coming to Grace in May of 2006.  He also serves as WELS liaison to the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Church in Puerto Rico.

He graduated from Northwestern College in 1985.  After serving as vicar (ministry intern) in Puerto Rico and learning Spanish, he graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1989 with a Master of Divinity degree.  His ministry experience before coming to Grace includes service as instructor at Nebraska Lutheran High School (two years), as missionary in Puerto Rico (seven years) and Antigua (eight years).

Tim and his wife Lorna have four children--Tyler, Zachary, Noah and Melina--who currently attend four different schools in four different states.  He enjoys participating in sports (both playing and coaching) and following sports (those of his children and of his favorite teams).

Tricia Visscher has been the Grace’s Administrative Assistant since the spring of 2002.  She assists with the daily operations of the church and special events at Grace.  One of her favorite events is Summer Bible Camp because the children and helpers bring such excitement with them during the week.

Tricia is a graduate of Michigan Technological University.  Before starting work at Grace, Tricia worked as a Procurement Manager for a telecommunications company.

Outside of her work at church, Tricia enjoys cooking, quilting, and scrapbooking.  She and her husband, Chuck, have one daughter, Beth.  They enjoy spending time with their families and friends whenever they can.

Penny Hoeting has served as the School Administrative Assistant and Director of Admissions at Grace Christian Academy since August 2010.  She provides office and administrative support for the faculty.  Penny manages the enrollment and tuition set up for the Grace scholars, and also serves as the contact person for all school families.
 
Penny is a graduate of Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota.  Prior to serving at GLS, Penny worked for over 19 years as a Network Representative for a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and assisted in contracting doctors and hospitals in the National Capital area.
 
A native Minnesotan, Penny moved to Virginia and married her husband, David (a native Virginian), in 1990.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and especially beach vacations to the Outerbanks, North Carolina, with her husband.

Chris Walther is the Vicar (ministry intern) at Grace Lutheran Church/Iglesia Luterana Gracia y Paz. As a Vicar, Chris will learn many skills to help him become a pastor in both English and Spanish. 

Chris was born and raised in Watertown, Wisconsin. He met his wife Katie while at high school there. They got married in 2020. Katie is a teacher and is helping out as an educational assistant at Grace Christian Academy this year. 

Chris received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Martin Luther College, and his vicar experience at Grace is part of his post-graduate seminary training at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. In his free time he enjoys reading, playing basketball or tennis, and traveling. He is very excited to be here in Northern Virginia and serve at Grace for the year.
