Stories That Matter
-Using the Stories of the Old Testament to Evangelize

Evangelism is becoming increasingly difficult for Americans in the 21st century. We live in a world where things tend to become obsolete within 1 to 5 years. So how could we possibly expect someone to listen to us ramble on about a book that's thousands of years old? Even though the characters of the Old Testament didn't have smart phones, their stories are relatable. Even though we can't scroll through their social media posts, their journies are still impactful. If you can see the relevance of the Old Testament's stories for your life, you'll be much more likely to share it with someone else. Join Vicar Russ this summer to look at some of the Old Testament's most impacting stories and discuss how they can be used for outreach.
Food and childcare will be provided. Food will be served at 6:30PM. The Bible study will begin at 7:00 p.m. and end by 8:00 p.m. The Bible Study will be held on Wednesday evenings: June 21; July 12, 26; & August 2. Please RSVP by signing up on the sign-up sheet that is on the bulletin board in Information Hall. If you need childcare, please check the "Childcare Needed" box on the sign-up sheet.

Please join Grace Christian Academy for our first annual Gala, which will be held at the Fairview Park Marriott on June 8th. The evening will include a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. featuring a silent auction filled with some really unique items, followed by a sit-down dinner, presentations by GCA scholars, keynote speaker Mark Jeske (Time of Grace Ministries), and a live auction with some amazing trips and other experiences. It's sure to be a great evening!

Why a gala? GCA provides a quality education to the children in our community. Thanks to generous congregational and community support of our tuition assistance program, families who would not ordinarily have a private, Christian education within their reach are able to send their children to Grace. However, tuition alone does not cover the cost to educate each scholar. The gala is a great opportunity to gather all our supporters together for a fun evening of fellowship and fundraising and to celebrate the Christ-centered education that we offer!

Tickets for the gala are $150 per person and can be purchased online:
http://gracechristianacademy.org/gala, or in-person. (Just leave your check with anyone in the Grace church or school office.)
If you've been holding off buying your Grace Christian
Academy Gala tickets now is the time!
There are only a limited number of seats remaining, they are are available until they sell out or until Friday, June 2, whichever comes first.

If you have any questions about the evening, please reach out to Julie Crain: jcrain@graceva.org; 703-909-2070. (You might also find what you're looking for on our FAQ page: http://gracechristianacademy.org/galaFAQs.)

We appreciate your continued prayers for the Grace Christian Academy family!

Sandwiches for the Homeless in May
Please join us in making sandwiches for the homeless at 10:00 a.m. on the last Saturday of odd numbered months (May, July, September...). The next event is Saturday, May 27.
What is Sandwiches for the Homeless? It is a service opportunity for all ages. During the course of about an hour and a half, bread and bologna are transformed into 1500-1700 sandwiches. Sandwiches are bagged, boxed, and delivered to Martha’s Table in Washington, DC, where they are then distributed to those who need them. Make the time to come help! This is a great way for everyone in the family to help those in our community who are less fortunate. See you there!
